Call for Proposals

Submission deadline: November 30, 2016

Across California, community colleges are working to improve completion and equity for their incoming students. And with the Basic Skills and Student Outcomes Transformation program, Equity funding, and the Student Success and Support Program, the state has stepped up to support this important work. We invite proposals from colleges working to improve outcomes for students placed into remediation, especially colleges that are:

  • >  Implementing multiple measures placement

  • >  Offering co-requisite models of English and math remediation

  • >  Offering accelerated pathways through transfer-level English and math courses

  • >  Using a pathways approach to placement and remediation in math

    >  Accelerating English language instruction in the ESL curriculum

  • >  Transforming classroom pedagogy within accelerated models

  • >  Providing professional development to support faculty to teach in new models

  • >  Bringing equity-mindedness to remediation redesign

For each proposal, we ask you to submit a session title (12 words max), an abstract for the conference program (50 words max), and a 200 word description of your proposed session that includes evidence that the approach improves outcomes for students, particularly evidence that it increases student completion of transfer-level English and math and/or narrows achievement gaps for disproportionately impacted groups.
