Date: Friday, September 13, 2024, from 2-3:30 (Pacific)
Description: Math faculty from Hartnell College and CSU Monterey Bay will share their experiences with standards-based grading (SBG) in STEM Calculus. Across instructors, students experienced a mastery-based approach to learning and many opportunities for reassessment. Success rates improved across racial/ethnic groups. Come learn more about SBG as a promising grading strategy for achieving more accurate and less biased grading, ensuring course rigor, and supporting students to succeed in calculus.
Presenters:
Hartnell College: Leticia Contreras, Jennifer Moorhouse, Senorina Vazquez
CSU Monterey Bay: Alison Lynch
Resources: Resource folder (includes samples of Calc 1 standards, syllabi, Canvas shells, assessments, and more!)

WEBINAR 5: Teach Me Videos: An Innovative Assessment Strategy for STEM Math
Date: Friday, October 4, 2024, from 2-3:30 (Pacific)
Description: We have all heard the adage: the best way to learn is to teach. In a Teach Me Video, students do the teaching, with support and/or feedback from their peers and professor. Join us for a showcase and discussion of Teach Me Videos in STEM math courses at Sac City College and Sierra College. Professors use this innovative assessment strategy to humanize the STEM math experience, improve student’s self-efficacy in advanced math, and deepen learning.
