Spring 2022 ESL Workshop

Spring Semester Essays Are Rolling In!

CAP invites English and ESL composition faculty to join this session focused on prioritizing feedback and responding to non-native student writing with concrete and intentional strategies to guide improvement. Kelly Kadi (Diablo Valley College) and Nathan Cayanan (Irvine Valley College) will share samples of student work from their transfer-level comp classes, which specifically cater to English-language learners. Working in small groups, participants will read the student samples and discuss their own responses and approaches; the instructors will then share the strategies they used with each student. Q&A will allow for further discussion of the persistent challenges of our craft.

When: Friday, January 28, 2:00-3:30 PST
Presenters: Melissa Reeve and Jose Cortes (Solano College), Kelly Kadi
Where: (Diablo Valley College) and Nathan Cayanan (Irvine Valley College)
