WEBINAR 1: Establishing a New Standard of Care for STEM Calculus: Results from a Randomized, Controlled Trial

Description: Join us for a discussion of active learning in STEM Calculus, with a focus on students with lower precalculus proficiency. Researcher Dr. Charity Watson will share results from a large randomized controlled trial that compared calculus learning outcomes achieved with active, collaborative pedagogy vs. lecture-based instruction across three semesters in 32 sections at a Hispanic-serving institution.

COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE FOR CALCULUS INSTRUCTORS
Date: June 15, 2024, from 8:30-3:00 (Pacific)
Location: Mt. San Antonio College, Walnut CA
Description: Mt. San Antonio College math faculty Lisa Morales and Paula Young will lead an in-person, one-day community of practice event for math faculty teaching STEM Calculus 1 post AB 1705. This mini-conference will feature presentations and interactive sessions by faculty who have had initial success with corequisite models. College teams of 2-4 are encouraged to attend. This event is free for participants but there is limited space.
